Job Title : Nuclear Plant Program Specialist and Procedure Writer Location : Bellevue, WA Type : Contract Contractor Work Model : Remote Position Overview : As a Nuclear Plant Program Specialist and Procedure Writer, you will play a pivotal role in the procedural and programmatic landscape of a Nuclear Power Station. Reporting to the Procedure and Program Development Manager, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining administrative programs that support plant operations and maintenance. Your efforts will help ensure the consistent implementation of procedurally critical programs, focusing on developing high-quality, compliant procedures that enhance operational efficiency and safety. Key Responsibilities : Develop and sustain a comprehensive knowledge base of plant design, operations, and relevant disciplines to create effective, high-quality procedures. Establish and refine processes and standards for writing and revising Nuclear Development Program (NDP) administrative and operating procedures, including software development and implementation. Utilize software-based tools to create electronic procedures and workflows, facilitating the review, approval, and management of documents. Identify opportunities for program streamlining and implement necessary process changes to improve operational efficiency. Develop and execute plans for organizing and tracking site administrative procedures and programs. Collaborate with a diverse team of procedure writers and program owners to ensure adherence to established industry best practices and standards. Mentor and train personnel on procedural development processes and standards. Engage with industry peers, third-party vendors, and organizations (such as NEI) to discover innovative approaches to administrative and operational procedure development. Implement regulatory review processes in accordance with standards like 10CFR50.59 and 10CFR72.48. Coordinate with various departments for cross-disciplinary procedure reviews and database implementations. Ensure compliance with company standards, NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and other essential codes and standards. Incorporate findings from industry reports and feedback into administrative and operational procedures. Maintain auditable records of procedure development and revisions. Qualifications : 10 years of experience in commercial nuclear power plant operations, maintenance, or engineering. 5 years of experience in writing operations, maintenance, or engineering procedures, with at least 2 years focusing on administrative programs. 2 years of leadership experience, including roles as a team lead, supervisor, or manager. Extensive knowledge of nuclear plant systems and terminology, with the ability to interpret relevant standards for adherence to procedural and regulatory compliance. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with experience using computer-based procedure tools. Exceptional technical writing and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to procedural excellence. A self-motivated professional capable of developing innovative solutions independently. High levels of trust and integrity, promoting open communication and teamwork. Adaptability to challenges posed by changing plant designs, schedules, or other operational hurdles.
