Engineering Technician - CAD

Job Summary

SnapIT Solutions is seeking a Contract CAD Technician to provide document management and drafting support for substation engineering projects. This role supports engineering teams by revising existing drawings based on field updates and, after training, updating Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages. The work is detail-oriented and accuracy-driven, making it ideal for candidates who take pride in precision and technical quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Revise existing CAD drawings based on as-built field corrections

• Update Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages after training

• Manage and organize internal engineering drawings and external vendor documents

• Create and publish new IFC drawing packages

• Gather technical information and current drawings for engineering projects

• Create new 3D, material-coded parts for electrical substation models

• Use Autodesk Vault and 3D parts libraries to develop substation models

• Generate drawings from one-line diagrams and substation standards

• Collaborate with engineering and field personnel after additional training

Optional field visits may be available as a training opportunity (not required).

Required Qualifications

• Education or formal training using Autodesk CAD products (required)

• Several years of CAD experience preferred; recent graduates in technology-related fields will be considered

• Proficiency in Autodesk CAD software and Microsoft Office

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• High attention to detail with the ability to self-check work for accuracy

• Willingness to accept guidance and follow established standards

• Positive attitude, persistence, and strong teamwork skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Autodesk Vault

• Familiarity with 3D modeling environments

• Customer service mindset and collaborative work style
