Work closely with supporting volunteers and staff to assist in their development and progression within incident management pathways.
WHO WE ARE:
Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events.
As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), Parks Victoria and the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) during major bushfire and emergency incidents.
ROLE SUMMARY:
Emergency Service Organisations within Victoria have a responsibility to provide incident management (IM) capability during emergencies. This may be during emergencies where the agency is the control agency or a support agency. Incident management roles are identified in the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS) structure and are essential for the efficient and effective running of incidents. VICSES is committed to enhancing our IM service delivery, including increasing our IM capability and capacity with volunteers and staff members performing IM roles. IM duties require the completion of relevant courses, development and enhancement of skills and knowledge and experience in order to be accredited and endorsed to undertake the defined roles. The Incident Management Capability Support Officer role will link closely with identified volunteers and staff, respective Senior operational members to facilitate the development plans of volunteers and staff in IM pathways. This is one of two positions that plays a critical and active role in linking these members to options around IM pathways and helping develop their IM personal development plans based on roles within the AIIMS structure.
