Job Description

We are seeking a sustainability data and governance manager to join our global sustainability team. This individual will be responsible for building holistic environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data management strategy, robust controls and procedures to drive standard work, and strong governance to ensure compliance with global disclosure regulations and deliver investor-grade, integrated reporting. This role will directly support Sandisk’s reporting strategy and roadmap, regulatory disclosure preparations, and stakeholder engagement.

The ideal candidate will possess and demonstrate passion for driving strong data management and proven analytical skills, data governance and controls experience, as well as a deep understanding of ESG reporting regulations (e.g. California SB253, SB261, EU CSRD, ISSB, etc.).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESG Data Governance and Control

  • Develop and implement ESG data governance and control frameworks, including policies, methodologies, and procedures for data collection, validation, and reporting.
  • Monitor and engage with ESG teams across the company to promote awareness and provide guidance related to measurement and management of sustainability-related metrics to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and public reporting standards.
  • Define requirements and drive selection and implementation of ESG reporting tools, integration, and automation for compliant public reporting purposes.
  • Engage with Internal Audit team and serve as primary point of contact for internal and external assurance audits on all ESG-related disclosures.

ESG Data and Systems Management

  • Lead internal engagement and queries related to data collection and calculation methodologies for ESG data.
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, tracking deliverables and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders across the company.
  • Engage relevant teams and stakeholders to collect and review required data to ensure data integrity and completeness.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with data, calculations, methodologies and/or results, including validating data and models.
  • Manage program documentation, including policies and procedures, with a strong focus on compliance and controls.
  • Define requirements for data solutions and work with stakeholders to establish user and business requirements for user-friendly and informative dashboards and tooling solutions.
  • Develop and guide teams toward better measurement, dashboards, and KPIs; drive continuous improvement and alignment to beyond-compliance best practices.

Data Analytics:

  • Serve as final data quality and accuracy reviewer for quarterly and annual environmental and sustainability reports for both internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Review methodologies and processes relative to the underlying protocols and frameworks to ensure completeness and consistency of ESG data accounting and reporting.
  • Conduct gap analyses of ESG data and work with business partners to understand appropriate corrective actions, including measures which improve the efficiency of data capture.
  • Review and refine models used to define and track environmental goals, performance, and projections, including Scope 1, 2, and 3, waste and water data.
  • Review environmental data and report content in accordance with globally recognized protocols, such as CDP, GRI, TCFD, IFRS, CSRD, CSDDD, and California Climate disclosures.

Sustainability regulatory compliance:

  • Stay informed on the latest developments in global sustainability disclosure regulations and requirements.
  • Support development of compliance strategies and roadmap, with an emphasis on data requirements.
  • Support regulatory gap assessments and gap closure work streams, such as double materiality assessment, EU taxonomy analysis, and CSRD readiness assessments and disclosure preparations.
  • Support compliant reporting development and submission, and own development and maintenance of data controls, procedures, and their documentation.
Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant and quantitatively-intensive field (e.g., environmental science, economics, mathematics, data analytics, accounting, finance) OR a similar field with extensive quantitative coursework.
  • Master’s degree and/or advanced certifications or qualifications (e.g., GHG accounting standards) or finance (e.g. CPA, CFA) is/are a plus.

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • 8-10+ years of industry experience in data science, applied statistics, or a related quantitative field, with a track record of building data products, analytical systems and/or applied analytics.
  • Strong foundations in statistics and quantitative reasoning—proficiency with concepts like statistical modeling, forecasting, trend analysis, and scenario planning.
  • Demonstrable experience applying data quality controls and management using applied analytical logic and statistical validation.
  • Experience with and patience for working with real-world data and making principled decisions about how to model, standardize, and harmonize it into reliable datasets and dataflows.
  • Communicate complex analytical concepts clearly and tailored for a range of audiences, from global teams to project managers to customers to senior executives.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy and ownership. Strong work ethic.
  • Excellent project management skills, and ability to execute in a complex, fast-paced large corporate environment.
  • A natural affinity to be reflective, to learn from challenges, and demonstrate resilience.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, results-oriented with the ability to work on multiple deliverables at the same time and drive projects to completion.
