JOB SUMMARY
Performs highly complex (senior-level) psychological testing and evaluation in order to establish eligibility for state services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder or related conditions; Work involves psychological testing, programming, diagnosing, reporting, writing and monitoring behavioral management programs, and research; May supervise the work of others; Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of the Chief of IDD Services, provides psychological and behavioral services for those people served by the Center with a diagnosis of Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of characteristics, assessment, and treatment of people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities and dual diagnoses. Knowledge of behavior principles and learning theory. Ability to design and implement effective training for skill acquisition based on learning theory and behavioral principles. Ability to interpret behavior utilizing a biosocial contingency model and generate hypotheses to affect individual behavior and institutional change. Ability to measure and assess behavior and conduct formal functional, ecological, and motivational analyses. Ability to design and develop individual behavioral programming from formal assessment, data collection, observation and interview. Ability to consult with staff and formulate constructive responses to problematic behaviors and crisis situations and teach such responses to others. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: Master's degree in psychology. Course work in behavior management, intellectual and adaptive behavior assessment, and learning theory.
Licenses: Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Psychological Associate in the state of Texas. Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
Experience: Two years experience providing psychological services to people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities including assessment of intellectual functioning, adaptive behavior functioning, and behavioral disorders; including two years experience in the development of behavior therapy programming to address behavioral disorders of persons with intellectual disabilities and dual diagnoses.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Psychological Associate in the state of Texas.
A valid Texas driver's license and good driving record is required along with a copy of a valid auto insurance card.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 25 pounds, sit for an extended period, and reach overhead.
