We have partnered with our client in their search for a Senior, hands-on Database Administrator / Database Architect to support the modernization, stabilization, and performance optimization of a shared database environment supporting multiple applications and teams. This role will work closely with Java-based microservice development teams, legacy .NET application teams, and the internal DBA group to improve database reliability, scalability, and day-to-day operability.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on support for PostgreSQL (AWS RDS) databases backing Java microservices
  • Query optimization, indexing, and concurrency troubleshooting
  • Incremental architecture improvements and modernization
  • Performance and reliability optimization
  • Observability improvements, dashboards, alerts, and runbooks
  • Close collaboration with development and DBA teams

Skills Required

  • Strong hands-on PostgreSQL experience (AWS RDS preferred)
  • Experience working with Java-based applications
  • Proven performance tuning and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with caching strategies such as Redis
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Nice to Have
  • CI / CD integration for database changes
  • Datadog or similar observability tools
  • DBA + developer background
  • Consulting or contract experience

    • Education & Work Experience

  • BS Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ year experience required
