Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Adult ICU position in a Level 1 Trauma setting, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and strong sterile technique skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care hospital Adult ICU consisting of SICU, MICU, and Trauma ICU pods
  • Unit includes 40 beds per pod with a total of 120 beds
  • Level 1 Trauma center serving critical and trauma patients
  • Patient population includes sepsis, organ transplants, trauma cases, post-operative vents, and severe medical emergencies
  • RNs are required to titrate drips and interpret their own telemetry strips
  • Use of advanced respiratory equipment including ventilators, Cervo I, jets, and oscillators
  • Cerner EMR system is used
  • 12-hour night shifts with 3 weekend shifts required every 4 weeks
  • Float among all ICU areas and to MedSurg / Tele units, and St. Joseph Westgate campus as needed
  • Self-scheduling available with scheduling team oversight
  • Day 1 pass / fail SIM lab on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes is required
  • Nurses are expected to maintain sterile field competence as assessed during SIM lab; failure to pass may result in release
  • Will work alongside a multidisciplinary team including 24 / 7 in-house Intensivists and Respiratory Therapists
  • Orientation includes two shifts on unit and educational modules on lifts, restraints, and wound care
  • Required to work at least 2 out of 4 major holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day
  • Navy blue scrubs required for all shifts
  • Staff must have natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean-shaven for fit tests
  • Returning employees must not have been employed by the health system within the past year

    • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of application; pending licenses will not be accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience in a 600+ bed teaching hospital
  • Current certifications : ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Level 1 Trauma ICU experience is mandatory
  • Experience with ventilators and titratable drips required
  • Must pass basic or advanced dysrhythmia exam prior to offer, two attempts allowed
  • Two professional references required : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
  • Copy of driver’s license must be provided for verification
  • Must meet a 50-mile radius rule determined by permanent address on driver's license
