Equipment Operator

The Equipment Operator performs skilled and semiskilled tasks in the repair maintenance and construction of the Putah South Canal and District distribution systems. This role involves operating and transporting heavy equipment such as excavators dozers loaders and boom trucks for tasks like trenching reshaping canals and lifting large components. Operators provide technical support for equipment maintenance train others in safe operation and offer leadership in field settings. The position requires independent judgment adherence to safety standards and the ability to work in varied outdoor conditions including confined spaces. Occasional emergency and standby duties be needed.

The ideal candidate has experience loading unloading stacking and carrying materials and supplies for placement. They possess the skills to operate various types of vehicles for hauling supplies materials and equipment including those with power attachments for tasks like shaping canal banks and excavating. The ideal candidate will be capable of performing work with minimal oversight while also demonstrating the ability to collaborate as part of a team when needed.

Information

Salary Range : $36.32 - $51.16 (Range 138 150)

Salary placement is based on the number of qualifying licenses and certifications held. Candidates without certifications will be placed at the entry level range.

Qualifying Licenses and Certifications :

• Tanker Vehicle Endorsement (N) Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training
• California State Water Resources Control Board Grade Level D-2
• ACWA JPIA Operations Certification

Cost of Living Adjustments (COLAs) 5% increase effective December 15 2025.

Flexible Spending Account - Tax deferred payments for dependent care health care and certain benefit premiums.

Vacation and Sick Leave Vacation is accrued bi-weekly at 80 hours per year during the first year. Employees accrue 12 days of sick leave per year calculated bi-weekly.

Holidays 11 scheduled holidays and 2 floating holidays per calendar year.
