Department InformationThe Department of English teaches a range of core curriculum classes and offers a B.A. in English with optional career-ready concentrations in Creative Writing, Professional Writing, Secondary Education, and Pre-Law, along with minors in Creative and Professional Writing. The Department also offers an MA in Professional and Technical Writing and graduate certificates in Technical Writing and Digital Communication, Creative Writing, and Teaching College Writing. English faculty are exceptionally dynamic, accomplished, and highly qualified. We offer classes through different delivery methods (face-to-face, asynchronous online, hybrid, multi-modal, etc.) and reside in MGA¿s School of Arts & Letters, which also has degree programs in History, Art and Applied Design, Interdisciplinary Studies, Media and Communication, Modern Language, Music, Public Relations, and Core Curriculum.
Job SummaryMiddle Georgia State University (MGA), a unit of the University System of Georgia, invites applications for a full-time lecturer of English who will both serve in a leadership capacity for the English Department¿s Learning Support faculty and teach Learning Support and composition courses. This position, beginning in Fall 2026, supports core education and may involve teaching on multiple campuses. Candidate selected for employment will be subject to a background check.
ResponsibilitiesThis position involves teaching a 5/5 course load (15 credit hours). Teaching responsibilities may include day and/or evening classes, online and/or hybrid courses, and/or video-conference classes. Coordinator duties may include organizing and conducting training and/or faculty development opportunities for other LS instructors in the Department of English. Travel between campuses may be required.
Required QualificationsRequired Educational Qualifications
Minimum of a master¿s degree in English, Technical and Professional Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, or related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in English
Required Experience
Experience teaching Learning Support composition courses
Experience with online and/or hybrid delivery of instruction
