Senior Pump Technician Greater Virginia Beach / Norfolk Area

Job Description

A leading repair facility specializing in electrical rotating equipment is seeking a Senior Pump Technician to join a specialized pump shop team in the greater Virginia Beach / Norfolk area. This is a critical, hands-on role supporting the repair of very large industrial pumps used in high-energy and municipal applications.

The ideal candidate has extensive large pump repair experience , advanced troubleshooting skills, and comes directly from a pump repair shop environment . This role requires precision, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to mentor junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities :

  • 🔧 Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble large rotating equipment (between-bearing, overhung, vertical pumps, etc.)
  • 🧠 Diagnose complex mechanical issues and recommend repair solutions
  • 📏 Perform precision measurements and static / dynamic balancing
  • 📝 Prepare repair notes, drawings, and technical documentation
  • 🏗 Safely operate cranes, hoists, and lift equipment
  • 👨 🏫 Mentor junior technicians and uphold quality and safety standards

Qualifications

  • 🔩 5+ years of advanced, hands-on large pump repair experience in a pump repair shop
  • 🚰 Expertise with major pump types (between-bearing, overhung, vertical, centrifugal, multistage, positive displacement)
  • 📐 Skilled with precision measuring tools
  • Ability to perform static and dynamic balancing
  • 📘 Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • 🛠 Field service experience (preferred)
  • 🛡 Strong commitment to workmanship, safety, and teamwork
  • 🌟 Leadership ability to guide and mentor junior technicians
