Packaging Engineer
The Packaging Engineer will focus on managing packaging projects developed by TRG and client team members that promote the most cost-effective methodology and produce best in class packaging designs from marketing conceptualization to shelf. The Onsite Packaging Engineer must be able to work effectively at the client level to meet deadlines and other expectations in a fast-paced, changing priority work environment. Essential Job Functions
- Complete projects with the client's cross-functional teams including Marketing, Design, Graphics, Procurement and Plant Engineering adhering to tight project deadlines.
- Optimize designs as needed to improve efficiency in production and in adherence to marketing objectives, machine capabilities, cost considerations, and quality concerns.
- Provide packaging costs to Procurement / Project Lead through sales engagement.
- Resolve design issues and work to correct through analytical testing and improvements.
- Coordinate ISTA and / or other packaging testing on new designs as needed.
- Distribute and compile results of package performance testing.
- Collaborate with other engineers and test lab personnel to determine new / existing test protocols and evaluate design feasibility through testing / trials.
- Review timelines at project initiation and advise changes in timeline when needed.
- Share time between Client's offices (Central PA) and TRG's Montgomeryville offices. (60% / 40%)
- Develop and issue specifications, build packets, bills of material and request components in SAP.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing plants and travel onsite as needed.
- Prepare, conduct and / or attend meetings. Present projects as required.
- Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including safety and good housekeeping standards.
- Regular and predictable attendance.

Preferred Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Engineering, Communications, Project Management or a related discipline.At least 1 year of experience in packaging development working with corrugate materials.Required Skills
Technical
Computer literate (MS Office including Word and Excel and data entry skills).Application knowledge of products and production processes.Quality standards ISTA procedures and general best practices.Demonstrated success managing multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity and timing is a necessity.Technical knowledge related to package materials, equipment, testing, and package development.Ability to work in a cross-functional environment relating to R&D, Marketing, Operations, etc.Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities, product layouts and production specifications, quality standards.Knowledge of ArtiosCAD, CAPE / TOPS or similar software packages.Remain current on packaging trends and innovations throughout the industry.Product layouts and production specifications; product quality specifications.Working knowledge of SAP a plus.Language

Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy; Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate; Able to apply concepts of high school math.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability

Work Environment
This position will be in an office environment with occasional travel on to the production floor.
