Full Stack Mobile Developer - Growth

We're looking for a Full Stack Mobile Developer to join our Activation team. You'll be responsible for building and supporting features that bring readers and writers to Substack and help them succeed here. This role combines native mobile development excellence (iOS and / or Android) with full‑stack capabilities to create seamless activation experiences across our mobile apps and web platform.

As a member of our Activation team, you'll work in close partnership with designers, product thinkers, and customers to build new mobile offerings and improve critical user journeys. You'll be on the front‑lines of product development, running experiments and iterating rapidly to grow our platform and create what's next for Substack!

Responsibilities

• Develop native mobile apps (iOS in Swift and / or Android in Kotlin) for creators and their audiences, with a focus on activation and growth.
• Build features across mobile and web to support user activation and conversion.
• Iterate on key user flows in the Substack mobile apps and web platform, and run A / B tests to improve activation metrics and drive growth.
• Work across our full tech stack (TypeScript / Node.js / Express, React, and Postgres) to deliver end‑to‑end solutions for activation.
• Collaborate with designers, writers, support staff, and many others. From product concept and research to implementation, experimentation, and measurement, we expect you to own your work and deliver high‑quality solutions.
• Work directly with customers to solve their problems. The entire company (CEO included) participates in customer support in order to drive empathy for our users and help us build better products.

Requirements

Substack's compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation salary range for this role is $175,000 – $225,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
