The Caf Manager plays a key role in a positive transformative guest experience through managing the daily operation of the Garden Gateway Caf, ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, cleanliness, and team performance. This individual supervises front- and back-of-house caf staff, coordinates food preparation and service, and ensures compliance with health and safety regulations related to caf operations. They act as a hands-on leader, supporting the team in delivering a welcoming and efficient caf experience for garden guests.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages daily caf operations, including food preparation, service, and opening / closing procedures
- Creates in collaboration with the Director of Venue Operations innovative, seasonal menus reflecting Kingwoods brand, exhibits, and audience demographics, tying in different aspects of Kingwood to the menu offerings
- Supervises, trains, and supports caf team members, ensuring excellent customer service and adherence to food safety protocols
- Creates weekly work schedules for daily and public event staff and managing time-off requests
- Ensures all food and beverage items are prepared and presented according to Kingwoods quality standards
- Monitors inventory levels, places orders, and minimizes food waste and costs
- Keeps the Director of Venue Operations apprised of inventory levels, costs, and expenses for budgetary purposes
- Establishes and maintains a cooperative relationship with vendors and delivery personnel
- Handles customer concerns and ensures resolution with professionalism and promptness
- Maintains cleanliness and organization in all caf areas, including kitchen, service counters, and dining areas
- Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations
- Responsible for all caf cash handling and ensuring compliance with Kingwoods cash handling policies and procedures
- Ensures caf equipment is operational, maintained, and repaired as needed
- Support the Director of Venue Operations in administrative tasks as needed
- Collaborates with staff in other departments to support events, promotions, or special exhibitions requiring catering or extended food service
- All other duties as assigned

A high school diploma or equivalent requiredPossess food safety and RAMP certifications, required3-5 years of food service or hospitality management experience requiredFood service management experience within a high-volume attraction preferredExperience in managing catering and special events preferredMust have a valid Ohio Drivers LicenseMust pass a background checkMust pass drug test
