Job Summary :
The Service Testing Technician is responsible for electrically testing a wide range of transformers and switchgear at our facility in Commerce City, CO, or at customer sites. This role involves completing work orders, generating detailed reports, troubleshooting electrical equipment, and performing minor repairs while adhering to safety and environmental guidelines. The position requires travel up to 35% of the time.
Job Responsibilities :
- Follow all safety guidelines and company policies.
- Complete work orders, perform tests, and generate consistent reports.
- Conduct electrical equipment evaluations, both internal and external.
- Perform tests including turns ratio, insulation resistance, winding resistance, power factor, no load and full load tests, hi-pot, and induced tests.
- Troubleshoot transformer issues and perform minor repairs or connection checks.
- Use pumps to drain or fill transformers with insulation oils and understand insulation materials.
- Operate industrial equipment safely, including forklifts.
- Follow environmental procedures, including spill containment.
- Work in harsh environments, including extreme heat or cold.
- Communicate test results and issues effectively to supervisors.
- Travel for work as required, with company-paid per diem, hotel, and gas expenses.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED required.Minimum 2 years of experience of electrically testing transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers.Familiarity with electrical testing procedures and troubleshooting transformer issues.Ability to perform minor repairs inside transformers safely.Skilled with hand and power tools, and industrial equipment.Strong communication skills for working with internal and external customers.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.First Aid / CPR, AED, and OSHA 10 preferred training.
