Role

Mechanical Designer with a minimum of 4 years of experience, to join our Building Design Services team in the Columbus, OH office. The designer will work in a team environment to develop water / wastewater related projects. The growing team will create opportunities to elevate knowledge and advance within the group. The designer will primarily focus on 3D modeling of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection while assisting with development of design drawings, providing support during project planning, collaborating with the project team during design, and engaging in QA / QC reviews.

Role accountabilities

Assist in developing conceptual layouts at the start of the project.

Create and maintain mechanical 3D Revit models for each project.

Create, monitor, and / or review preliminary and detailed design drawings.

Assist in the development of conceptual cost opinions (e.g., quantity take-offs) and possibly other engineering-related tasks.

Work effectively in team situations and maintain strong relationships with other teams where overlap exists.

Collaborate with various engineering disciplines, office / project staff and sub-contractors throughout the project life cycle; demonstrate clear oral and written communication skills; participate in design documents, team meetings, and field interactions with clients and subcontractors.

Assist with development and management of personal workloads and coordination with team workload and project budgeting.

Ensure project compliance with Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards; facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects on time and within budget.

Required Qualifications

4 years of experience with mechanical drafting / modeling for buildings or water / wastewater treatment design and construction projects.

Proficient in AutoCAD.

Proficient in Revit and 3D modeling.

Strong verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

Highly motivated with ability to budget own time and work efficiently to achieve project goals both independently and as part of project teams.

Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional work experience in a similar role with a Consulting Engineering firm.

Experience with BIM software.

Strong experience with both 2D & 3D drafting.

Experience with x’refing, layering, preparing quantity takeoffs and estimates.

The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $112,509; actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
