Desktop Engineer

Our client, a financial firm based in midtown NYC is looking for a motivated & driven Desktop Engineer to join the team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about technology, eager to learn, and ready to grow into more advanced engineering responsibilities. You will assist with deploying, maintaining, and supporting desktop systems, hardware, and software across the firm in a fast-paced trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support for end users, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and at times white glove service.
• Assist with setting up, imaging, and configuring Windows systems and mobile devices.
• Support user onboarding and off-boarding, including account setup, equipment distribution, and workstation preparation.
• Perform routine system updates, patching, and software installations through management tools.
• Help maintain and update asset inventory, ensuring accurate tracking of all devices.
• Support the Desktop Engineering team with device lifecycle management, including repair, replacement, and decommissioning.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security standards, policies, and configuration baselines are followed.
• Document processes, solutions, and troubleshooting steps in the IT knowledge base.
• Escalate complex issues as needed while continuing to learn and contribute.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in IT support, help desk, or desktop.
• Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and typical enterprise software.
• Familiarity with Active Directory, user permissions, and account management.
• Working knowledge of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPN.)
• Strong working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience with hardware troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills (Big Plus)

• Exposure to Cybersecurity platforms, Cloud services and Microsoft Administration.
• Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python or similar).
• Experience supporting remote and hybrid employees.
• Certifications such as Network+, and/or Microsoft certifications.
