Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities & Engineering team supporting sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability and manufacturing continuity in a highly regulated cGMP environment.
Schedule & Location
Shift: 3rd Shift - 12-hour rotating schedule (evening to early morning)
Days: Back half of week rotation (Wednesday through Friday, plus alternating Saturdays)
Location: On-site at manufacturing facility in Thousand Oaks area
Core Responsibilities:
Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on sterile fill-finish production equipment including filling systems, lyophilization units, and packaging machinery.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to minimize unplanned downtime.
Maintain equipment in constant audit-ready condition per federal, state, and internal quality standards.
Prepare detailed technical documentation in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) requirements.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams on equipment modifications and system installations.
Coordinate external contractors for specialized repairs and equipment upgrades.
Identify maintenance training gaps and contribute to team capability development.
Drive continuous improvement in maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience (one of the following):
Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related field + 2 years relevant experience, OR
2 years technical/trade school training with documented hands-on mechanical experience, OR
High school diploma/GED + 4 years progressive maintenance experience
Technical Competencies:
Demonstrated expertise in pharmaceutical or similarly regulated manufacturing equipment maintenance.
Proficient in maintenance and repair of pumps, valves, mechanical seals, motors, and lubrication systems.
Strong understanding of cGMP documentation requirements and predictive maintenance methodologies.
Ability to read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Comfortable working with hazardous materials, extreme temperatures, high-pressure systems, electrical voltages, and energized equipment.
Background in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device manufacturing.
