The Stationary Engineer Apprentice supports the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of building systems while learning the skilled trade of stationary engineering. This role is hands on and designed for individuals who want to build a career working with boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, generators, and other mechanical and electrical building systems under the guidance of licensed engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Training and Development
Participate in on-the-job training under licensed stationary engineers
Progress toward required certifications or licensing as applicable
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Mechanical aptitude and interest in building systems and skilled trades
Basic understanding of tools and equipment preferred
Ability to learn and follow technical instructions
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Dependable, punctual, and willing to work flexible schedules if required
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in facilities maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or mechanical work
Basic computer skills for logging and reporting
Work Environment
Work is performed in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and throughout occupied buildings
Exposure to noise, heat, cold, and moving equipment
Use of personal protective equipment is required
