Job Description
The DevOps Engineer is responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters in support of enterprise and mission systems. This includes designing resilient container orchestration environments, supporting cluster upgrades, and ensuring high availability and performance across development, staging, and production environments.
The role includes automating cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code and configuration management practices to support repeatable, secure, and compliant deployments. The engineer will design, implement, and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI / CD) pipelines that support microservices-based applications while enforcing security controls and change management requirements.
Additional responsibilities include implementing and supporting service mesh technologies to manage service-to-service communication, traffic routing, and security.
The DevOps Engineer will integrate observability solutions to monitor system health, performance, and reliability, and will collaborate closely with development, security, and operations teams to troubleshoot issues and continuously improve platform stability.
All work must be performed in accordance with applicable government security policies, compliance frameworks, and operational standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
The contractor shall provide personnel who meet one of the following requirements :
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline; or
A minimum of five (5) years of equivalent professional experience performing DevOps engineering functions.
Candidates must have demonstrated experience in :
Deploying, managing, and supporting Kubernetes clusters
Automating cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices
Designing and implementing secure, highly available CI / CD pipelines
Experience with the following technologies is required :
Microservices architectures
Service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd)
Observability and monitoring tools
Required Skills and Competencies
Strong DevOps and cloud engineering expertise supporting enterprise systems
Experience operating within government or regulated environments
Knowledge of security, compliance, and DevSecOps best practices
Strong troubleshooting, automation, and collaboration skills
Education
Bachelors degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Desirable Certifications (Preferred, Not Required)
Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional
Microsoft Certified : DevOps Engineer
Clearance Requirement
An active security clearance at the level specified by the program is required, or the ability to obtain and maintain the required clearance.
