Clinical Laboratory Technician (Metals Lab)

Job Description

Perform analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing, prognosing, and treating patients. Testing is conducted in specialized laboratories using either highly skilled manual techniques or automated testing with advanced instrumentation.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain laboratory instruments.

Troubleshoot assays and evaluate tests for accuracy.

Assist with interpreting results and provide operational support to optimize testing.

Work with multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results.

Adhere strictly to safety protocols when working with infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.

Perform ICP-MS or FTIR analysis in an ISO class 7 cleanroom.

Dilute urine, serum, or whole blood to the correct dilution for elemental analysis.

Start up, calibrate, and optimize instruments.

Focus on kidney stone and lead analysis.

Work independently while having access to full lab support for troubleshooting.

Essential Skills

Experience with laboratory instrumentation operation and troubleshooting.

Ability to produce accurate results under time constraints.

Capability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with others.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a human biological science such as Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Animal Science, Marine Biology, or Neuroscience.

Healthcare Experience is a plus.

Master's degree accepted, but not PhD or engineering.

OPT candidates will be considered.

Work Environment

The Metals Lab consists of around 15-25 people between the 1st and 2nd shifts. In the section working with FTIR, there are about 7 team members. The lab has an active social team with monthly themes, potlucks, huddles, and shout-outs. The lab operates Monday through Friday from 7 : 00 am to 3 : 30 pm, with occasional Saturdays as needed.

Pay Rate : $25 / hr

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00 / hr.
