Job Description

General Requirements:

Work Experience:
Minimum of one-year previous security experience or 2 years of experience in a related field (customer service, security, or occupation in the criminal justice field).
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent MI Driver License no restrictions and no excessive traffic violations as defined by H.R. Policy #607. Out of state drivers license accepted with the exception that a Michigan drivers license is obtained within 6 months. Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) or obtained within 6 months of hire. Must complete Security Awareness Training 1, 2, 3a, 3b within 30 days of hire. Must complete International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Basic Security Officer Certification within 6 months of hire. Must complete BLS/heartsaver training within 3 months of hire. Must complete required defensive tactics training within 3 months of hire. Must complete FEMA 100, 200, 700, 800 within 6 months of hire. Associate degree (core classes in Security/Safety Administration, Criminal Justice Law, English, or Social Sciences). Preferred.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Able to certify in unarmed self-defense and control techniques, as well as crisis prevention and intervention techniques during the probation period. Able to show competency and/or ability to learn various computerized security technology and software programs during the probationary period. Knowledge of good body mechanics and in good physical condition. Able to demonstrate ability to work well under pressure. Excellent communication and public relations skills (written and oral). Basic knowledge of civil and criminal law. Basic firearm safety and familiarization of firearms. Must be able to complete federal background and fingerprint check for access to Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS). Healthcare security experience. Preferred. De-escalation Training. Preferred.
