Alabama State University, College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics invites applications to fill the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics. The selected candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses offered by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The position requires teaching excellence, discipline related scholarly and professional activity, and the ability to secure funding to sustain a research program in the candidate's field of expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Teach and develop mathematics courses relevant to departmental needs
- Assist with the preparation and assessment of academic program goals and objectives
- Facilitate and inspire learning through effective and innovative teaching methodologies
- Establish a productive research agenda and secure external funding to sustain it
- Advise students regarding courses required for degree completion and the formulations of short-term and long term academic and career goals
- Provide excellent service to both the University and the community
- Prepare and mentor students to develop academically and professionally as they matriculate in their academic programs
Assistant Professor: An earned Ph.D. or terminal degree in Mathematics or related discipline form an accredited college or university, OR Master's degree in Mathematics, 3 academic years of successful teaching experience in an accredited college or university, excluding teaching as graduate assistant, AND forty-eight (48) semester hours of credit in a doctoral program at a regionally accredited university, with the doctoral program being in the Mathematics are required.Associate Professor: An earned Ph.D. or terminal degree in the Mathematics or related discipline from an accredited university, AND 5 academic years of successful teaching experience at an accredited college or university, excluding teaching experience as a graduate assistant, and three years of teaching experience at the rank of assistant professor are required
It is to be noted that for the purpose of continuous improvement of faculty qualifications as faulty members complete advanced degrees, certifications, licenses, etc., the faculty member will send official documentation, within 45 days of hire, to the Office of Human Resources, and the credentialing file in Academic Affairs.
