Job Overview

Sigma Systems is seeking a Front Desk Coordinator to support the Outpatient Physical Therapy Department at UMass in Shrewsbury, MA. This is a 3-month onsite contract role covering a medical leave. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical front desk operations, patient scheduling, and insurance verification within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Shift Schedule

  • Monday-Thursday : 9 : 30 AM-6 : 00 PM OR 10 : 00 AM-6 : 30 PM
  • Friday : 7 : 00 AM-3 : 00 PM

    Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all front desk, clerical, and scheduling functions for the Rehab Services Department
  • Greet and check in patients , ensuring a welcoming and professional experience
  • Notify therapists promptly upon patient arrival
  • Schedule initial evaluations and follow-up appointments per therapist instructions
  • Register patients accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR / EHR) system
  • Collect and verify demographic, insurance, benefits, and co-pay information
  • Assist with office supply inventory and ordering
  • Support therapists and rehab aides as needed
  • Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Medical Front Desk Coordinator, Medical Receptionist, or Patient Services Representative
  • Experience in outpatient physical therapy, rehabilitation, or healthcare settings preferred
  • Strong patient scheduling and registration skills
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, benefits, and co-pays
  • Comfortable working with EMR / EHR systems
  • Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities
  • Work Environment

  • Onsite role in a busy outpatient physical therapy clinic
  • Collaborative healthcare team under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Manager
