Summary/Primary Purpose: Work with youth and adults in the Corps and community to plan and implement music classes that will include music theory, performance skills, musicianship, and character. This position requires scheduled attendance which may include nights and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the position.
• Provide music classes to school age children in 2nd Grade through High School and adults.
• Provide supervision for the children in the program.
• Enforce all rules and fair discipline among program participants.
• Report any accidents/incidents to the director and complete the proper forms.
• Responsible for the set up and take down of games and equipment used for activities.
• Positively interact with volunteers and visitors.
• Driving is an essential role in this position.
• All other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities : To supervise all youth in The Shield Fine Arts Academy programs.

Education and/or Experience: A minimum of 2 years music experience working with children/adults. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music. An advanced degree or training is desired however combination of High School diploma or its equivalent and teaching experience will be considered.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

• Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
• Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to details and filing.
• Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Working Conditions: The work environment is a setting with moderate and occasionally high noise levels. Ability to work indoor and outdoor in all seasons.
