SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:

The Plasterer completes painting projects across the district to support safety and overall

cleanliness and function of district properties. The Plasterer repairs and replaces plaster, lath and

drywall to prepare for paint and finish to keep school buildings in repair.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and

provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Tears out damaged plaster and lath from ceilings and walls; replaces surface to a paintable

medium.

Applies drywall tape to drywall joints, sets nail heads, applies joint compound, and smooths

the finish of the joint.

Removes damaged masonry and paints with bonding products before replastering.

Strips vinyl covering and excess plaster as needed from walls and patches plaster so that

wall can be repainted.

Builds scaffolding and cleans up after procedures.

On a regular day, as a Plasterer, you might:

Review new and existing assignments and work requests for the day and complete tasks assigned.

WHAT YOU'll BRING: SKILLS AND MINDSETS:

As an ideal candidate for this role, you will be able to achieve the following:

Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance

instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,

percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra

and geometry.

Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where

only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in

written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related

experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid Indiana Driver's License
