Building Engineer

The Building Engineer plays a key role in maintaining the safety functionality and comfort of our facilities. This position focuses on routine maintenance basic repairs and ensuring systemsincluding electrical plumbing HVAC and structural componentsoperate efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine inspections of building systems equipment and grounds

Complete work orders involving light electrical plumbing HVAC lighting and carpentry tasks

Support Property Manager in maintaining and following preventive maintenance schedules

Respond promptly and professionally to emergency maintenance situations

Assist skilled vendors and contractors with access and coordination as needed

Monitor and maintain inventory of tools supplies and parts

Maintain accurate maintenance logs documentation and service records

Conduct seasonal facility support tasks (e.g. snow removal landscaping heating / cooling prep)

Ensure all work meets safety standards and building codes

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade training a plus

Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance facility operations or a related field

General handyman skills in basic plumbing electrical HVAC and carpentry repairs

Ability to read and interpret blueprints manuals and schematics (preferred)

Strong problem-solving communication and time management skills

Understanding of position scopeknows when to escalate to licensed trades or specialists

Physically able to lift bend climb and work in varying environmental conditions

Valid drivers license
