The Third Party Liability program is responsible for recovering the cost to the United States of medical care provided to persons entitled to care when their injuries / illness result from the negligent acts of third parties. Sources of recovery include liability, medical payments, Personal Injury Protection, and no-fault coverage in automobile and homeowner's insurance, as well as worker's compensation benefits. Recovery is sought from both insurance companies and from negligent parties directly.
Roles and Responsibilities :
Collect information necessary for successful analysis of all potential claims, for assertion of claims where recovery is feasible, and billing these claims.Perform duties related to the Tort program under the Federal Medical Care Recovery Act to enable clients to meet its legal obligations regarding the collection of medical reimbursements and compensation for lost wages resulting from third-party liability claims.Draft correspondence, file records, make copies of related correspondence, answer related phone calls and transfer calls to appropriate personnel, perform data entry by way of MS Access and utilize the task feature in MS Outlook.Qualifications, Required Skills and Experience :
At least four years of experience working in a general office setting.Effective written and verbal communication skills with tact and diplomacy.Experience with program evaluation and measurement techniques for compliance.Medical Accounts Receivable program experience.Experience analyzing admission, disposition and injury reports generated by the Composite Health Care Systems (CHCSII) / Integrated Health Information System (IHiS), Tricare contractors, DoD or Military Treatment Facilities.Experience compiling data from medical acute care clinics, emergency rooms, and other clinics because of a motor vehicle accident or personal injury to open case files.Medical information of Emergency Treatment Records (ETRs) experience.Experience with interviewing beneficiaries and initiating correspondence to obtain necessary insurance information regarding the injury and provide guidance to complete forms.Experience facilitating requests for information, medical invoices, and liens for TPL claims from civilian attorneys, military legal offices, and government agencies.Experience preparing FMCRA liens to include billing forms and UB92 insurance forms.Experience generating medical liens and routing for review, approval, and decision.Ability to review correspondence to determine priority and process and route for action.Critical thinking to examine problems, identifying important factors, collecting relevant data, and suggesting appropriate solutions.Education :
Must hold an associate degree from a college or university accredited by a regional or national accrediting body.Relevant experience may substitute a college degree.Other :
