CAD Technician

The CAD Technician is responsible for drafting and providing designs to Engineering. This role involves taking raw data and transforming it into a working drawing, which includes adding various construction layers such as electrical auxiliary systems, power distribution, lighting systems, and fire alarm systems to create a comprehensive construction document. The technician is expected to consult with engineers to ensure accuracy and to fill in technical details.

• Draft and provide designs to Engineering.
• Create as-built drawings including the specification and design of site lighting, interior lighting, and emergency lighting.
• Develop and maintain drawings used by the field team.
• Coordinate with mechanical contract drawings to ensure accurate placement of lighting systems.
• Produce detailed electrical schematics.
• Fill in technical details using drawings, rough sketches, and specifications.
• Perform calculations for placement accuracy.
• Clean up data through rendering, redlining, etc.
• Research specifications and datasheets as needed.
• Log drawings and database entries.
• Participate in weekly team meetings regarding project schedules.

• 2+ years of experience as a BIM Modeler, Detailer, Technician, or Coordinator.
• Proficiency in Revit, with a preference for electrical applications.
• Experience designing and building detailed 3D models of electrical systems such as conduits, fixtures, and panels.

• Electrical, Mechanical, or Architectural related degree.
• Experience with BIM Navisworks.
• Exposure to a diverse project base including commercial, industrial, healthcare, and automotive buildings.

The role is based in an office in Madison Heights, which houses 20 employees, with additional staff working in the field as Installers, Field Techs, and Electricians. The field staff are part of a Local Union. Work hours are from 8am to 5pm, with a casual attire policy allowing jeans and button-up shirts. The team includes Project Management & Project Engineers, Estimators, Designers/Design Engineers, General Superintendents, and Administration & C-Level Executives.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison Heights, MI.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr.
