Description

Chris Preble from Robert Half has a client in Syracuse that is looking for a dynamic and results-driven Controller to lead our financial operations and strategy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires a combination of high-level strategic planning and hands-on management of day-to-day accounting functions. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in guiding the organization's financial health while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to oversee the company's financial operations and drive the overall financial health of the organization. This individual will serve as a key member of the leadership team, providing financial insight, operational support, and guidance on business decisions. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable with high-level strategic planning and rolling up their sleeves to handle day-to-day accounting functions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the company's accounting and finance functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cost accounting
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process and ensure timely, accurate financial statements and internal reporting
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support operational and strategic decision-making
• Analyze financial results and key metrics; provide recommendations to improve profitability, control costs, and support business growth
• Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure GAAP compliance
• Partner with operations and production teams to monitor inventory, cost of goods sold, and overall plant financial performance
• Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and cash management activities
• Lead preparation for audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting in collaboration with external auditors and tax advisors
• Oversee and mentor accounting staff to build a high-performing and collaborative finance team
• Support the leadership team with financial modeling, capital planning, and other strategic initiatives
