We have an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Lead to work in the Los Angeles area. This position requires thorough knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, practices, and advanced engineering principles for Substation Construction, Maintenance, and Operations. This is a hybrid position, in office Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad area of assignments
- Experience of successfully solving difficult problems that required adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Ability to lead integration of new technologies into one system
- Responsible for determining readiness for system-wide deployment
- Develop, update and maintain engineering standards to support new technologies and evolving compliance requirements
- Ability to work with key stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts and Construction team
- Work with Technology Integration and Training team to develop training plans for the end-user
- Responsible for ensuring all operating manuals are updated before deployment
- Define asset ownership and responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing SAP and Master DATA integration for new technologies
- Manage standards of all change requests through all phases of the Standard Process
- Maintain documentation to ensure technology transfer and standards are updated
- Conduct impact assessments for new standards and technology including operational safety and training implications
- Identify gaps and feed insight back to team for updates
- Requires deep understanding of transmission, distribution, and substation standards
- Requires Regulatory Knowledge with CPUC, General Orders, NERC requirements, and compliance frameworks
- Ability to interpret engineering principles and evaluate implications of standards changes (AUD / DM, SPIDA pole loading); AutoCAD for substation standard drawing updates
- Ability to lead pilot processes and facilitate technology transfer for new equipment and systems
- Ability to interpret engineering principles and evaluate implementations of standard changes (conductor tension, table, clearance, structural loads)
- Working knowledge of tool impacted by standards updates (AUD / DM, SPIDA Pole loading); AutoCAD for substation standards drawing updates
- Clear understanding of Roadmap Alignment Awareness of Asset Strategy & Planning (ASP)
- Ability to evaluate QA / QC findings, assess operational impacts, and identify gaps
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related FieldsProfessional Engineer (P.E.) preferredSeven plus years of engineering experienceProficient with Microsoft Office to include Excel, SPIDA pole loading, AutoCAD, AUD / DMAdvanced knowledge of power systems, standards development, regulatory compliance (CPUC, NERC, and proficiency with engineering tools (AutoCAD, SPIDA, AUD / DM)Strong ability to lead technology pilots, manage standards updates, and coordinate across cross functional teamsSkilled in risk assessment and cost-benefit analysisExcellent communication skills and problem-solving mindsetUpon a conditional job offer, a drug test and background check will be required.
Compensation based on experience.
