Bring your passion for space!

Redwire is accelerating humanity's expansion into space by delivering reliable, economical and sustainable infrastructure for future generations. Redwire specializes in the development and delivery of spacecraft, aerospace structures, mechanisms, and thermal control solutions. The business unit performs design, analysis, testing, and fabrication of advanced technologies through the complete concept-to-flight development cycle.

Summary

Redwire Space Missions has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Engineering, Integration and Test (I&T) at our Albuquerque, NM facility. In this role, you will lead and scale the I&T organization within the Space Missions Engineering organization, responsible for developing and executing spacecraft I&T activities across multiple programs. This role combines functional leadership-driving process discipline, capability growth, and workforce development-with direct program support, ensuring successful system integration and delivery of space flight hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and grow the I&T functional organization in alignment to business needs.
  • Lead hiring efforts, performance management, and mentorship for I&T staff.
  • Establish and maintain I&T best practices, standards, and infrastructure to ensure repeatable, efficient, and high-quality execution across all programs.
  • Provide direct technical and execution leadership on key Space Missions programs, supporting integration planning, test readiness, anomaly resolution, and launch campaign activities.
  • Collaborate with other Engineering functions and Program Management to define and execute integration and test campaigns aligned with program cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
  • Oversee test facility planning, equipment readiness, and test article configuration control, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements.
  • Serve as the technical authority for system-level environmental test campaigns, including vibration, thermal vacuum, EMI / EMC, and end-to-end functional testing.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve integration and test flow, reduce cycle time, and increase test efficiency through process optimization and tool adoption.
  • Participate in proposal development, customer engagements, and planning activities, representing I&T.

Ideal Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field with 16+ years of experience supporting government and / or commercial aerospace programs.
  • 5+ years of experience leading the planning and execution of integration and test campaigns for space flight hardware.
  • 2+ years of experience serving in a functional leadership role with mentoring of other engineers.
  • Eligible for a U.S. security clearance.
  • Desired Skills

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Expert understanding of spacecraft systems, test architectures, ground support equipment (GSE), and environmental testing.
  • Experience leading teams supporting multiple concurrent spacecraft integration and test campaigns.
  • Deep expertise in environmental testing at the vehicle and unit level, including shock, vibration, thermal vacuum, and EMI / EMC.
  • Proficient with digital test management, automated data collection, and configuration tracking tools.
  • Experience with requirements and verification management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent.
  • Experience with agile task execution tools, such as Jira or Confluence.
  • Experience defining and satisfying success criteria in alignment to test and launch readiness.
  • Experience with launch vehicle integration and pre-launch operations.
  • Demonstrated success in building high-performing technical organizations and scaling capability to match business growth.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to lead both functional and cross-program teams.
  • Active DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to travel - 25%-50% travel may be required.
  • Grow with us as we innovate the next generation capabilities for a new era of space exploration! We offer a highly competitive benefits package along with a commitment to our core values of Integrity, Innovation, Impact, Inclusion, and Excellence.

Don't meet every single requirement above? No worries. We want people who can grow, collaborate and build a stronger team.
