About BCRF:

Breast cancer is a complex disease with no simple solution. Every diagnosis is unique and puts lives at risk. We must stop breast cancer in its tracks, and research is the answer. Founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation is the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the world. We invest in a wide range of research—including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and metastasis—because each area of investigation informs another, propelling us toward the solutions we urgently need. We convene and connect the best minds in science—giving them the opportunity to pursue their most innovative ideas. Our combination of investment and cross-disciplinary collaboration accelerates the entire field and builds momentum for new discoveries. BCRF-funded investigators have been behind every major breakthrough in breast cancer research, and the field is moving faster than ever. We are fueling the world’s most promising research and we can’t stop now.

About the Role:

The Program Manager, Community Fundraising serves a critical role in the execution and growth of BCRF’s marketing and fundraising strategy, and reports to the Associate Director, Community Fundraising. The Marketing & Communications team drives increased awareness and visibility of BCRF’s mission and leads engagement through direct and peer-to-peer fundraising along with other digital strategies, raising more than $8 million online annually.

This role collaborates across external departments and with internal colleagues on the Marketing and Communications team, serves as a primary contact for individuals and groups fundraising for BCRF and manages multiple charity partner fundraising programs for the organization.

The Program Manager will be an integral part of BCRF’s peer-to-peer fundraising team. The Program Manager is responsible for the acceleration, growth and expansion of programmatic activities related to peer-to-peer fundraising, including but not limited to endurance events, panhellenic programs and employee engagement initiatives. The Program Manager will work to elevate awareness of these programs, activating the grassroots community to increase participation, establishing new opportunities to increase channel revenue, and provide one-to-one fundraiser support and customer service.

This position is based in New York, New York. BCRF currently requires staff to work onsite a minimum of three days per week.

  • Research and propose new fundraising programs that feed into existing BCRF peer-to-peer programmatic areas and ones we have yet to consider.
  • Serve as a main point of contact for program participants fundraising for BCRF. Provide fundraising resources, tangible support, and information about BCRF for fundraisers to use as they communicate with their friends, family and networks to increase conversion and brand loyalty.
  • Oversee and manage existing charity partner endurance programs (e.g. marathons, races, and more), including but not limited to the TCS New York City Marathon and the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon. Develop a strategy to expand to new races and events. Market, recruit and provide one-to-one fundraising support for all participants and ensure all requirements as a charity partner are completed.
  • Spearhead BCRF’s streaming and gaming program, understanding best practices in this space and opportunities to engage more streamers with BCRF’s mission. Help streamers communicate BCRF’s mission to their followers. Manage online streaming and fundraising platforms, including Twitch, Tiltify and Streamlabs.
  • Collaborate across teams internally to build out employee engagement opportunities and accompanying resources.
  • Identify, oversee the design process, and distribute incentives that would inspire fundraisers to amplify their support of BCRF and help maintain high retention rates.
  • Passionately communicate BCRF’s mission, approach, impact and efficiency to the grassroots community.
  • Assist donors with GoFundMe Pro and other fundraising platform questions, including: Helping to process donations, issuing refunds, sending receipts.
  • Send handwritten and electronic thank you notes to select grassroots supporters of all sizes thanking them for their efforts and support.

Content & Amplification

  • Flag fundraisers – small and large – for coverage in BCRF’s social media, blog, emails, print publications and brand campaigns.
  • As a member of the Marketing and Communications team, work with colleagues to identify unique stories to pitch to news outlets in key markets across the U.S.
  • Develop marketing assets and materials to promote BCRF’s peer-to-peer platform, engaging new and existing supporters.
  • Provide fundraisers with materials, messaging and tools to serve as BCRF brand ambassadors and help grow brand awareness.
