POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title : Medication Technician

Supervisor : Health Services Coordinator / Health Services Director

FLSA Status : Hourly, non-exempt

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

The primary responsibility of this position is to administer medications to residents and assist with other aspects of their daily care and routine. As a Medication Technician, you embody our principle of Person-Centered care and support our mission statement through People, Passion, and Excellence by providing the highest standard of care and customer service. In assisted living and memory care, this role also ensures safety, promotes dignity, and supports engagement for residents with cognitive or physical challenges.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Six months of related experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Appropriate certification, as required by the state
• Previous experience in senior living preferred
• Attention to detail to administer and accurately record the administration of medications for residents as prescribed by the physician in accordance with established policies and procedures of Sunshine Retirement Living and applicable state / federal regulations
• Demonstrated ability to communicate politely and effectively (in English), both verbally and in writing, with residents and staff
• Meet state-related requirements (if applicable to position)
• Ability to work in a team setting and be a positive team player
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional approach with coworkers and residents
• Possess excellent customer and organizational skills
• Ability to work under time constraints with little supervision and meet department deadlines
• Training or willingness to train in dementia care practices, including redirection, validation, and behavioral support techniques
• Satisfactorily pass Sunshine’s and state-regulated criminal record clearance, health screening and
• TB clearance (if applicable)
