divh2Upfront Admissions Financial Counselor/h2pThe Upfront Admissions Financial Counselor will analyze financial information to determine patient ability to pay or qualification for financial assistance; analyze balances in order to determine appropriate action. Position is also responsible for: Utilize available resources to obtain eligibility information; update patient demographic and financial information; communicate with staff, patients and payers, as required to obtain or verify billing information or payment; answer questions, resolve concerns and document specific actions taken on individual accounts in the billing systems. This position will also be responsible for insurance collections and patient payment posting. This position is responsible for considering the status of the entire patient account and for exercising judgment to determine appropriate course of action to bring account to resolution./ppWhat tasks are required?/polliJob Type: Part-time; hours determined by Facility/liliAnalyze and take appropriate action on unresolved accounts, including payer denials./liliEvaluate patients financial information to determine their ability to make payments or qualify for financial assistance, adhering to the Medical Centers Financial Assistance Policy. This may involve setting up suitable payment plans/liliReview credit balance accounts and implement necessary actions./liliServe as a financial counselor during intake, discussing insurance and financial obligations with patients upon admission./liliUpdate patient demographic, financial, and payer information in applicable systems./liliCommunicate with staff, patients, and third-party payers as necessary to verify billing information, process payments, and address inquiries or concerns./liliAssess the status of entire patient accounts and exercise judgment to determine the appropriate resolution./liliMaintain spreadsheets and prepare original correspondence using Microsoft Excel and Word./liliAs a Financial Counselor, you will verify benefits and eligibility on all admission inquiries, prepare admission folders, and collect co-pays/deductibles from patients. You will also be key in establishing effective and timely payment plans, coordinating with utilization review and discharge planning to minimize non-payment risk, and ensuring accurate financial collections./liliAccurately verify insurance benefits and eligibility for all admissions./liliPrepare admission folders and collect co-pays/deductibles from patients./liliAssist with payment plans and coordinating financial arrangements with collection personnel./liliCollaborate with utilization review and discharge planning to limit non-payment risk./liliProvide ongoing patient benefit information and participate in patient discharge procedures./liliPerforms other duties as assigned./liliComplete annual education requirements, if applicable/liliMaintains standards of professional society procedures and ethical behavior./liliMaintain client confidentiality at all times./liliReport to work on time and as scheduled./liliParticipate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities./liliRepresent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times./liliCommunicate the mission, ethics and goals of the organization./li/olpWhat we need from you?/ppHigh School graduation or equivalent; Two years of experience in patient accounting, customer service, or a related office environment OR Equivalent education/experience. Knowledge of UB, CMS 1500 and other utilized billing forms and payer requirements. Knowledge of KIPU and CollaborateMD Billing and/or Professional Billing, and registration systems. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. While some minor flexibility in service provision is possible, employee will work agreed upon shift schedule.
