Linux Administrator

We're seeking an experienced Linux administrator to support the rollout and ongoing maintenance of our Linux desktop fleet, with a focus on configuration management, automation, and fleet operations.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Perform Linux system installation, configuration, patching, and ongoing maintenance across physical and virtual desktops
• Implement and maintain SaltStack configurations to enforce system baselines and automate repeatable tasks
• Contribute to sprint-based engineering efforts focused on endpoint reliability, compliance, and lifecycle management
• Support incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis across a large fleet of Linux systems
• Execute operational procedures for OS/software updates, re-imaging, and break/fix scenarios
• Participate in change management processes and maintain accurate technical documentation
• Collaborate with engineers and IT support teams to ensure endpoint compliance and functionality

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience supporting large-scale Linux desktop environments in production settings
• Strong hands-on experience with Ubuntu/Debian Linux, including imaging, patching, and support
• Proficient in configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
• Experience writing scripts in Bash and/or Python to automate common system tasks
• Familiarity with sprint-based or agile project work
• Experience with tools like Jira for task and incident tracking
• Clear communicator with strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Must be local to the Bay Area and able to work onsite at Foster City HQ at least 3 days per week
