Copy Editor

A company is looking for a Copy Editor to ensure error-free content for communications that engage, inform, and solicit alumni and donors.

Key Responsibilities

Provide editorial services including substantive editing, copy editing, proofreading, and research for accurate and consistent messaging

Independently proofread and edit content for nomenclature, grammar, style, and accuracy while adhering to deadlines

Serve as a departmental resource for fact-checking and AP Style inquiries, assisting with special projects as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, communications, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

Four to six years of professional editing and proofreading experience

Expert knowledge of grammar and AP Style, with experience applying institutional style guides

Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and collaborate constructively with various stakeholders

Demonstrated experience fostering an environment of respect and professionalism with diverse populations
