Veterinary Technician - Emergency

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work Swings and Overnights in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Fresno, CA.

Shift Needs: Wednesday - Sunday - 8-hour shifts - 2pm-10pm, 3pm-11pm, 4pm-12am, and 9pm-5am/10pm-6am/11pm-7am

Pay: $22.00 - $41.75 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system .

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential

• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital, the role of Veterinary Technician is an exciting, fast-paced opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills that you have worked so hard to gain. As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperatureheart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.

• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.

• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heartand respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.

• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.

• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.

• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.

• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.

• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.

• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.

• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
