Water Utility Engineer
Chico, CA (On-site)
Full-Time | Direct Hire
Salary Range : $109,408 – $186,934
We are partnered with a leading regulated water utility to identify a Water Utility Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of critical capital infrastructure projects. This role offers long-term stability, public-impact work, and exposure to complex water system projects across distribution, storage, and treatment facilities.
What You’ll Do
- Plan, design, and deliver capital improvement projects including wells, pump stations, storage tanks, pipelines, pressure tanks, and treatment plants
- Manage projects from concept through construction, including scope, schedule, budget, and cost tracking
- Oversee construction activities, consultants, change orders, RFIs, inspections, and invoices
- Prepare and review permit applications, bid documents, and technical specifications
- Coordinate with internal districts, regulatory agencies, and public stakeholders
- Perform engineering calculations and civil design analysis
- Support capital budgeting, cost estimating, and regulatory filings
- Review easements, legal descriptions, and infrastructure records
- Assist with long-term water distribution system planning
- Conduct project safety planning and documentation
What We’re Looking For
BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited)2+ years of experience with water distribution, treatment, wastewater, or related infrastructure projectsEIT preferred; California PE strongly preferredWorking knowledge of project management principles (PMP a plus)Experience with engineering calculations, design analysis, and construction oversightStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with standard engineering and office software toolsKnowledge of water and wastewater systems highly desirableValid California Driver’s LicenseWhy This Role
