Blue Ridge Community College is currently seeking adjunct instructors with a passion for training others in the healthcare field. If you are committed to developing the next generation of healthcare professionals and equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to care for your community, then BRCC’s Healthcare program is the place to be! The College is seeking adjuncts who are qualified to teach in one or more of the following areas:
- Nurse Aide
- Medication Aide
- Patient Care Technician
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- Phlebotomy
- EKG
- Professional Coder
- Sterile Processing
- Medical Terminology
- PSR (Patient Service Representative) courses
- Other programs as needed
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Course instruction
- Providing hands-on skills training in clinical labs, when applicable
- Creating lesson plans
- Grading and preparing students for the certification exam
- Lab set-up and tear down
- Working with our Healthcare Program Manager to ensure quality instruction and student completion
BRCC is currently building a pool of POTENTIAL applicants for credit adjunct teaching positions in this discipline. There may or may not be any positions currently available. However, in order to be considered for current and/or future openings, please submit an online application. Teaching demonstration may be required. Some positions require travel to off-site locations to provide clinical instruction. Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in the subject area
- Industry certifications, where required by accreditation
- Passion for healthcare and helping others learn
- Ability to use various forms of technology, such as Microsoft office and lab equipment and the ability to learn new ones
- Ability to teach in classroom, hybrid, and online formats when applicable
- Strong communication skills-both written and verbal, to include the ability to effectively explain complex information so that it is understood
- Ability to travel to off-site locations to provide clinical instruction
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds
Additional Considerations
- Prior teaching /training experience related to respective course
- Work experience in a medical office/clinical setting
- Additional related education/training/certification/licensure that is not required, but is useful in this role
