Lead Python Engineer (Portland)

We are looking for the best, highly skilled Lead Python Engineer to join the team of our innovative client. This fully remote role blends hands-on Python development, cloud platform expertise, front-end modernization, and leadership in establishing best practices and processes.

What will your day look like? As a Lead Python Engineer, you will :

Evaluate, refactor, and rewrite the existing Python back-end as needed

Plan and execute front-end modernization using React

Introduce robust cloud infrastructure and monitoring solutions (e.g., GCP, Datadog, PagerDuty)

Implement development best practices, including CI / CD, automated deployments, and code quality standards

Support proof-of-concept work for new customers while ensuring production readiness

Mentor and delegate work to junior developers when needed

Make architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and software stability

Stay up to date on AI-assisted coding tools (Copilot, Replit, Claude, etc.) to improve productivity

You will be a good fit for this Lead Python Engineer role if you have :

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

5+ years of experience with Python back-end development

Experience with front-end frameworks, preferably React

Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and infrastructure setup / monitoring

Strong software engineering practices, including CI / CD, automated testing, and deployment pipelines

Optional : prior experience managing or mentoring developers

Nice-to-Haves :

Exposure to AI / ML workflows or data science applications

Experience with AI-assisted coding tools

Familiarity with mobile application development
