Brazing Machine Operator – Carbide Tools (Horizontal & Vertical Brazing)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Brazing Machine Operator to operate horizontal and vertical brazing machines for carbide drills and reamers. The role involves brazing hex and quick-change adapters to carbide tooling while maintaining tight tolerances, proper runout, and high-quality workmanship. The ideal candidate will be able to read CAD prints, understand tooling specifications, and ensure consistent, repeatable brazing results.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate horizontal and vertical brazing machines for carbide drills and reamers
- Braze hex adapters and quick-change adapters to carbide tools per engineering drawings
- Read and interpret CAD prints, drawings, and work instructions
- Inspect tools for runout, alignment, concentricity, and overall quality
- Measure and verify runout using gauges, indicators, and other inspection tools
- Monitor brazing temperatures, filler materials, and joint quality
- Perform minor machine adjustments and routine maintenance
- Identify defects and take corrective actions to meet quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and quality requirements
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, quality, and engineering teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience operating brazing machines (horizontal and / or vertical preferred)Knowledge of carbide tooling , drills, reamers, and adaptersAbility to read and interpret CAD prints and technical drawingsUnderstanding of tool runout, concentricity, and alignment requirementsProficient in using measuring tools (dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, etc.)Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detailAbility to speak and understand English for instructions, safety, and documentationAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPreferred Qualifications
Previous experience brazing carbide to steelExperience with quick-change and hex adapter systemsManufacturing or tooling industry backgroundFamiliarity with quality standards and inspection processesPhysical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift and handle tooling and fixtures as requiredGood hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
