Description :
This position is for a Cath Lab role.
The Special Procedure Tech provides direct care before, during, and after procedures for patients undergoing heart and / or vascular procedures.
The incumbent assists physicians and delivers quality patient and family-centered care.
Responsibilities may include performing IV starts, prepping patients, monitoring hemodynamics, operating equipment, and documenting procedures.
The position requires managing vascular access sites and providing patient and family education.
Essential Functions :
Monitor patients undergoing routine invasive and interventional procedures.
Provide intra-procedural technical support and quality care to patients and families.
Perform and record hemodynamic and physiologic waveforms and calculations, as required.
Communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, patients, families, and all ancillary departments.
Demonstrate compliance with established standards.
Perform quality assurance checks on technical equipment and validate department skills.
Maintain radiation safety standards for staff and patients.
Take on-call shifts as scheduled by the department.
Assist physicians using sterile technique and participate in imaging and other cases as required.
Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited radiography program is required.
Graduates of a cardiovascular technologist program are preferred.
Relevant clinical experience is required through graduation.
2 years of relevant experience in EP, Cath Lab, or IR is preferred.
CRT-Radiographer (R) - ARRT certification is required upon hire.
CRT-Cardiovascular (CV) - ARRT certification is required within 2 years.
CRT-Interventional Radiography (VI) - ARRT certification is also required within 2 years.
CRT-Reg Card Elect Specialist (RCES) or CRT-Reg Card Inter Specialist (RCIS) certification is required upon hire.
CRT-Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within 180 days.
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
Physical Demands :
Pallet to waist lifting occasionally up to 20 lbs.
Waist to overhead lifting occasionally up to 20 lbs.
Bilateral carrying occasionally up to 20 lbs.
Unilateral carrying seldom up to 10 lbs.
Pushing and pulling forces seldom up to 10 lbs.
Forward bending while standing and sitting occasionally.
Frequent reaching above shoulder level and at shoulder or below.
Frequent handling and finger / hand dexterity.
