Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including but not limited to water, wastewater, and site development projects. This role involves analyzing project plans and specifications to determine project costs and ensuring that bids are competitive and profitable.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Conduct quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment needed for projects.
• Prepare bid proposals and present estimates to clients and stakeholders.
• Analyze project costs and budgets to identify potential savings and efficiencies.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers during the design phase to optimize project costs.
• Maintain and update estimating databases and historical cost data.
• Utilize estimating software such as HCSS Heavy Bid and On-Screen Takeoff to streamline the estimating process.
• Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
• Assess project risks and develop strategies for risk management.
• Present and defend estimates in bid meetings and negotiations.
