About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to play a pivotal role in addressing a diverse array of legal matters associated with the global structuring, financing, and implementation of reforestation projects. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, particularly in the areas of land tenure, rights, and international practices. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, leading due diligence and risk assessments, and the negotiation of various commercial and legal documents. The Senior Corporate Counsel will also be responsible for developing and maintaining legal policies that align with the company's strategic objectives and may be called upon to assist with legal disputes, including the management of outside counsel.

Applicants for the Senior Corporate Counsel position at the company should hold a Juris Doctor degree and have a minimum of 5 years' of experience in project finance, with a focus on energy or other infrastructure projects, or in project development related to forestry, agriculture, or real estate ventures. The role requires excellent communication skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple legal matters in a fast-paced startup environment. Preferred qualifications include experience in an international context, particularly in Africa, Latin America, or Southeast Asia, and a background in land tenure, use, leases, and permits. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong business acumen, capable of making sound legal decisions that support the company's mission of reversing climate change through the restoration of native forests.
