VITA Program Manager

Madison Approach Staffing Inc. is seeking an experienced VITA Program Manager to oversee operations for the 2026 Westchester County Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

Position Details

  • Rate : $50 / hour
  • Schedule : Flexible, as-needed; 2-4 hours daily, Monday-Sunday (20-24 hours / week)
  • Duration : January 2026 – April 2026. As needed April - September 2026 (2 hours / week)
  • Location : Multiple VITA sites throughout Westchester County, NY

Overview

Provide comprehensive oversight and coordination for multiple VITA tax preparation sites serving low-to-moderate income taxpayers. Supervise Site Coordinators, ensure IRS compliance, and serve as liaison between sites, volunteers, and program administrators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Site Coordinators across 11+ VITA locations
  • Monitor compliance with IRS Quality Site Requirements and program standards
  • Manage site schedules and ensure adequate staffing coverage
  • Provide backfill coverage for Site Coordinator absences as needed
  • Submit weekly activity reports and monthly program summaries to WPWDB
  • Coordinate training and maintain volunteer / staff certification records
  • Address operational issues and resolve taxpayer concerns
  • Compile final program report with outcomes and recommendations

    • Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • Previous tax preparation experience required
  • IRS VITA certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Proficiency with TaxSlayer tax software
  • Strong supervisory, organizational, and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between sites
  • Ability to handle sensitive taxpayer information with discretion

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior VITA program experience
  • Volunteer management experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish) ability
