Senior Accounting Manager – Hybrid Schedule

Job Summary

Macdonald & Co. is partnered with a privately-held multi-faceted real estate investment firm primarily focused on development and acquisition of commercial assets to hire a Senior Accounting Manager to support its growing investment platform in its Atlanta, GA headquarters.

The successful candidate will oversee a growing accounting department and be responsible for the compilation, analysis, and reporting for the firm’s real estate assets in addition to assisting with managing of corporate accounting operations while supporting and liaising with all internal teams.


Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required with preference for accounting majors with CPA or Masters.
• 5-10 years of previous relevant experience in real estate investment/service firms, private equity, or related company.
• Financial reporting experience required.
• Working knowledge of accounting software – Yardi.
• Experience with real estate software – DealCloud, Juniper Square.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent work ethic, self-motivated, proactive with a meticulous attention to detail.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for managing, mentoring, and training of accounting team members.
• Assess operational effectiveness and make suggestions to streamline functions between departments.
• Maintains documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.

Financial Reporting:

• Oversee all aspects of accounting processes as needed including AP, AR, accounting close, and reporting.
• Maintains documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk and monitors.
• Oversees annual budget process, reviews, and ensures required reporting is completed and all variance analysis is sufficient.
• Manage audits and at times write footnotes and complete audited financial statements.
• Works with tax preparers to ensure federal and state compliance including reviewing, filing, and transacting partnership and corporate returns.
• Oversee all 3rd party management on-boarding and oversight. Develop a relationship with our service providers.

Treasury:

• Execute treasury processes within a control environment and ensure the safety of assets and transactions.
• Open and close bank accounts as needed.
• Administrate access and control of banking interfaces.

Portfolio:

• Be able to perform all accounting requirements of all JV, operating agreements including development and construction agreements.
• Calculate all fees, and track expense reimbursement allocations for each fund.
• Analyze and improve portfolio accounting processes for efficiency and implement updates.

Development:

• Facilitate the draw process on developments. Oversee and be able to perform the draw process including bank draws, documentation, and allocations.
