Laborer I

Salary Range : N / A

Position Salary : 4,368.00 USD Monthly

Location : Various

Civil Service or Non Civil Service : Civil Service

Job Summary : Performs a variety of routine, repetitive manual tasks not requiring the continuous performance of a mechanical or trade skill; and performs other related duties as required.

Examples of Duties :

  • Loads, moves, and unloads dirt, materials, supplies and equipment, excavates with pick, shovel, and other hand tools; backfills holes and ditches;
  • Spreads materials for road patching and paving; cleans culverts, cuts grass, widens ditches and clears off rubbish;
  • Sprays solutions for killing weeds; may operate small power mower;
  • Sweeps streets;
  • Sets out flags and lanterns to mark off construction areas;
  • Clears storm drains of rubbish and rocks;
  • Burns rubbish at public dump and keeps area orderly;
  • Heats asphalt for road patching;
  • May check trucks and other equipment for oil, gas, and water;
  • May occasionally help tradesmen by performing heavy manual work in lifting and carrying building tools and materials;
  • Carries rocks and materials and mixes cement and mortar for the construction of sidewalks, curbing, stone walls, roadways, storm drains and bridges; and
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications : Training and Experience : A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school.

Work Shift / Schedule : Monday-Friday (United States of America)
