The Boiler Mechanic is responsible for the operation, maintenance, renovation, and repair of boiler systems within a facility. They ensure that these systems are functioning safely and effectively, in compliance with all local and national codes. The Boiler Mechanic plays a crucial role in maintaining the facility's heat generation and distribution infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of boiler systems within the facility.
  • Calibration and regular adjustment of boiler system controls to maximize efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving for operational and functional boiler system issues.
  • Responding promptly to service calls and requests related to boiler system issues.
  • Collaborating with other tradespeople, suppliers, and inspectors to ensure correct project work and code compliance.
  • Staying updated on changes in field safety and boiler codes.
  • Maintaining clear communication with the facility manager, team members, and other relevant parties about work performed and the present status of projects.

  • Engage with customers and clients.

    • Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Education and / or Experience :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, plus vocational training or apprenticeship, and five years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of local boiler codes and regulations is required, as well as a fireman license.
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
  • Excellent understanding of boiler systems, including the ability to read system diagrams and troubleshoot issues.

    • Working Conditions and / or Physical Requirements

  • Physical Demands : The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and perform physical labor related to boiler system maintenance and repair.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Possible frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to wet and / or humid conditions; high, precarious places and outside weather conditions.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies as necessary.
