Inpatient Physical Therapist (Acute Care Hospital)

Location : 825 Chalkstone Ave, Providence, RI 02908

Job Type : Contract (13 weeks)

Shift : Day Shift, 5x8-Hour (08 : 00 - 17 : 30)

Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Inpatient Physical Therapist (PT) to join our acute care hospital team. The role requires providing therapy services to adult and geriatric patients with various medical conditions. The PT will work across different units, including orthopedic, ICU, ED, medical, and surgical. This is a 13-week contract position with flexibility in scheduling.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and evaluations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Perform reassessments and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Assist patients with gait training and mobility using appropriate equipment.
  • Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Participate in weekend rotations (preferred Tuesday - Saturday schedule, but flexible).

    • Qualifications :

  • Minimum 1 year of inpatient acute care experience.
  • Rhode Island State Physical Therapy License (Required).
  • Experience with orthopedic, ICU, ED, medical, and surgical cases.
  • Ability to float between units as required.
  • Strong assessment and discharge planning skills.
  • First-time travelers accepted with acute care experience.

    • Required Skills & Procedures :

  • Patient assessment, evaluation, and discharge planning.
  • Gait training and use of assistive devices (Gait Belt, Rolling Walker, Standard Walker, Sit-to-Stand Lift, Sliding Boards, Soft / Hard Collars).
  • Extremity mobilization and post-operative rehabilitation.
  • Experience treating conditions such as hip fractures, knee injuries, tendinopathy, post-op cervical surgery, post-op shoulder repair, post-op spinal surgery, total hip replacement, and total knee replacement.
  • Lifting and transferring patients safely.

    • Certifications & Compliance :

  • COVID-19 Vaccine (Medical exemptions only).
  • Flu Vaccine (Medical / religious exemptions and declinations allowed).
