Airport Information: Your best bet on traveling to this facility is going to be the Colorado Springs Airport, approximately 6 miles southeast of downtown Colorado Springs. Incidentally enough, this airport is in agreement with the Peterson Air Force Base to, at times, share the landing runways for airplanes arriving. Be sure to check out their website located here.

About the Facility - Peterson Air Force Base
The Peterson Air Force Base Proudly hosts the 21 st wing, a huge unit spread over six counties, and multiple military bases. In other words, this is one of the few units that can cover the entire area of the United States of America. The unit is responsible for space control and missile warnings. Works in a tight collaboration with the North American aerospace defense command. The unit is split into four different groups - Mission Support Group, Operations Group, Medical Group, and Staff Agencies. Each of them has specific tasks and includes smaller divisions. The base is also the home for the 821 st Air Base Group and the 721 st Mission Support Group. Aside from these three major names, multiple small associate units are sometimes hosted at the base.

Psychologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Cord of Conduct.
• Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
• Psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
• The clinical psychologist shall provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; and help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
• Assist in the rehabilitation of patients.

Psychologist - REQUIREMENTS

• Degree/Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association-accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology. Successful completion of an internship in psychology by the American Psychological Association.
• Experience: A one-year fellowship or residency in health psychology or behavioral medicine OR possess one year of experience in the last four years in the evaluation and treatment of patients who have pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition, or difficulty coping with medical problems.
• Licensure: Must possess and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license or certification to practice as a Psychologist.
  • Must have Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or the client.
  • Must possess the ability to pass a government background check/security clearance.
